Choose the private workspace for shared jobs

Sign in with your email; a ChatGPT account is not needed. Choose your company and job. Editing and capture need early access, which is free for now, or approved pilot access. Creating an account doesn’t charge you or start early access; open Your plan to start free early access explicitly. The free calculators work without an account.

In the job editor, records are staged until you choose Save to job. Wait for the saved-online confirmation. On a computer, sign in to the same account, company and job to continue. Invited company members can access the shared work. Personal tickets are private unless explicitly assigned to a company job.

Preload company, crew and job details

Under Defaults, save company details or a named crew preset with people, preparer, shift and task. Select a preset when creating a job. Load an existing job there to set its own location, contract and report defaults. These fill new forms; they do not record attendance or overwrite completed reports.

Under Coordinates, save a reviewed company reference template, then copy it into a job. Later template edits do not silently change an existing job. A location-based suggestion is only a shortlist; verify the exact authority, units, realization, elevation reference and site calibration against your source or control.

Keep HI and add point notes

1. Open Field book. Establish HI using a benchmark and backsight, or enter a known HI.
2. Add each point name, rod reading, optional target/tolerance and point note. Choose Add point & next.
3. When moving the instrument, start a new setup. Use a turning point if appropriate and enter the new backsight. Previously saved readings keep their original HI.
4. Review the field book, export its CSV or PDF, and save the job to cloud.

BM 100.00 ft + BS 5.25 ft = HI 105.25 ft. A 4.75 ft rod reading gives EL 100.50 ft. A 100.25 ft target means CUT 0.25 ft. Tolerance checks compare your entered tolerance; they do not certify a project standard.

Laser, optical and theodolite level sights use a horizontal reference. This field-book method does not reduce vertical angles and slope distances. Pipe invert stations are under the field-book panel; review station direction, grade and HI targets before saving.

Review a corrected reading or setup

When establishing a setup from a saved turning point, choose Use a recorded point as turning point to keep an explicit link. Typing a point name alone does not create that link.

To correct a setup, choose Correct an earlier setup, enter the corrected setup values and save it as a new setup. Review What needs updating? for affected readings and downstream turning points. The old setup and its readings are not automatically recalculated. To update a point deliberately, open its edit form and choose Correct using current setup, enter the new rod reading and review it before saving.

The source-review list also checks saved surface results against the current job surfaces. Download its CSV when you need the full list. Older references without enough linked history are identified separately.

Import CSV or LandXML and review the surface

1. Open Surfaces. Select your survey CSV or named LandXML TIN. Map CSV columns and check header, northing/easting/elevation order.
2. Confirm horizontal and elevation units separately. Record the exact coordinate/elevation references; matching labels cannot repair mismatched coordinates.
3. For LandXML, review the named surface, declared reference, source extents and visibility counts. If needed, enter a smaller work-area window in the source horizontal units before importing. Review the retained triangles and longest edges. For generated CSV surfaces, use Shape surface to add boundaries, holes, breaklines, exclusions or a maximum edge. Gaps stay gaps.
4. Load a compatible design/base if needed. Check survey points against the design, generate a section along a straight baseline, or calculate a measured quantity inside the actual work boundary.
5. Keep the surfaces and save the job online. To export LandXML, choose the output units explicitly and retain the reference information.

Limits: 2 MB per input, up to 1,000 CSV points and 1,000 points / 2,000 triangles in each retained surface. Larger LandXML inputs within the file limit can use a source-unit work-area window; up to 50,000 source points / 100,000 faces can be read before selection. Whole intersecting triangles are retained, so coverage can extend beyond the window. No points are thinned. Explicit invisible faces are excluded; supported straight outer/void boundaries are checked. Curved or ambiguous boundary objects and active faces crossing unresolved exclusions are refused. Full LandXML road alignments are not imported. Normalized geometry uses international feet; sources and reference settings remain with the saved surface.

Save a before-you-leave coverage map

1. In Surfaces → Measured quantities, enter the actual work/toe boundary. A starting rectangle needs your review.
2. Under Before-you-leave surface review, choose a triangle span in feet and add a review note. Select Build surface review map.
3. Check the survey and design layers: red means uncovered; amber means the selected span is exceeded. No ground is extrapolated. A stockpile base entered as a plane is flagged as an assumption.
4. Choose Save review in job, then Save to job for cloud access. You can save a review without completing an estimate. The job retains one current review; replacing it does not rewrite an issued report.

This is a coverage check, not proof of survey accuracy or adequate sampling. A shorter triangle can still miss important terrain.

Compare estimate assumptions

In Measured quantities, expand Compare estimate assumptions. Name up to three alternatives and choose one change for each: design/base offset in international feet, planning allowance in percent, or stockpile density in US short tons per as-surveyed yd³. Positive offset raises the design/base.

Calculate, compare each result with the original, then save the estimate and job. Changes are independent; they are not added together. Density applies only to surveyed stockpiles. Enter your rates to compare priced subtotals; unpriced work is excluded. CSV and PDF estimate exports include the alternatives.

Plans, markup and scanned point tables

Use Plans & points for private plan uploads, markups and PDF exports. Review extracted digital text or OCR from a scan before accepting point values. Calibrate a sheet against a known dimension and check another known distance before measuring it. Do not treat a scanned scale or uncertain OCR digit as survey control. Keep the original sheet and its revision with the edited copy.

Prepare a report with your logo

Add an uploaded logo or photograph it straight-on; use the rendered preview to check proportions. Save it in the job. Daily reports can include up to three resized photos. Keep original photographs separately.

Save daily reports as Draft, then review them. A correction returns the edited content to Draft and increments its revision when saved. Choose Prepare PDF, download the file or use a supported phone's share sheet to choose email. The website does not automatically send it.

In Job reports, choose the saved cloud job and date range, then select the field book, design checks, surface review map and measured estimates, 3D views or material comparisons you need. Confirm tickets and review actual hours/daily reports first. Save the report snapshot before preparing its PDF. Later source edits do not alter an issued snapshot. Open a saved report to see its source-review flags against the current job. Choose Create revised report to make a new linked snapshot, or Start a separate report for a different handoff. The saved map is included when surface reviews and measured estimates are selected.

Measured estimates also have Plan sheet & estimate PDF: choose paper, orientation, scale, title, client and revision. Fixed scale refuses an undersized page; Fit prints the selected scale. Print at Actual size / 100%, and check the scale bar. Diagram colors can be monochrome; your logo keeps its original colors.

Tickets and actual hours

Photograph or upload the ticket. OCR suggestions remain editable and unconfirmed. Check date, ticket number, material, quantity and units against the original, then confirm. A material plan separates estimated, measured and delivered quantities; review duplicate tickets and incompatible units or volume bases before comparing.

Plan shifts under Crew schedule. Record actual start/finish, unpaid break, task and note under Hours by person, then review the entry. Planned hours are not attendance. Corrections keep a reason and history. Use the job time zone and resolve ambiguous daylight-saving times.

Prepare a private job for no signal

1. While connected, select the company and job. Expand Offline jobs and prepare a new encrypted copy, including its active crew roster.
2. Choose a separate device passphrase. Open and unlock that copy in the same browser before leaving coverage. Older prepared copies need fresh preparation for ticket/hour capture.
3. Save the offline field job as you work. Under Ticket photos & individual hours, add photos and Draft hours for people in the prepared roster. Nothing records attendance automatically.
4. Reconnect with the original account/company. Return the field job through its recovery workflow, review it and save to cloud. Newer office edits are preserved.
5. Download the separate ticket & hours return file. Under Offline jobs choose Return ticket photos and hours, review and upload. Returned tickets stay unconfirmed and hours stay Draft until reviewed online.

One copy supports up to eight ticket photos and 100 time entries, within a 10 MB capture limit and 12 MB combined copy limit. Photos are resized to a maximum 2,000-pixel long edge and 1.5 MB each. Up to five copies and 40 MB fit in the browser vault. The prepared roster is a snapshot; add people online and prepare again.

This is explicit return, not background synchronization. Retry an interrupted return without creating unchanged duplicates. Keep the source copy until the cloud records are verified. Downloaded recovery/return files are unencrypted: keep them private. The offline passphrase cannot be reset. Clearing browser data can erase the vault. Check the complete workflow on your actual phone before relying on it in the field.

If a save or sign-in fails

Keep the current page and preserve a backup or recovery download before reloading. Read the save message: a device draft is not yet on your other devices. The recovery area identifies drafts awaiting cloud confirmation. Resolve unfinished forms, reconnect and retry; do not overwrite a newer office revision.

If sign-in inside another app stalls, keep that page's unsaved work, then try the private workspace in Safari or Chrome. Different browser contexts have separate unsent drafts. Do not clear site data as a first troubleshooting step.

Older local Field jobs

The local Field workspace remains available for existing browser-only jobs. Its backup is manual, its older feature set is smaller, and a local licence key does not grant cloud access. Download each job backup there, then use Import Field job backup in the private company workspace. It creates a separate job. Check the imported work before removing any original.
