Where your work is stored.

Last updated 13 September 2026. This describes what the software does today. If that changes, this page changes with it and the date above moves.

For phone-to-office work, use the private cloud workspace. Cloud-saved jobs are available to your account and authorized company members on other devices. The details below distinguish it from local Field.

Local Field

Free calculation inputs run in your browser and are not uploaded by the calculator. Choosing Share or sending an exported file discloses the result to the app and recipients you choose. The older local Field workspace stores its jobs in that browser until you export or choose to import them into the cloud workspace.

Private cloud workspace

The local-storage details below apply to local Field and free calculators. Jobs, crew schedules, individual hours and report photos saved at app.driftlesssolutions.us use private cloud storage and company access controls. See the private workspace privacy and storage notice. Importing a local backup into that workspace uploads it only when you choose to do so.

What stays on your device in local Field

• Your jobs — names, locations, dates, grade observations, quantity estimates and the person named as preparer. Held in your browser's local storage for this site only.
• Your licence key, if you have activated Pro. It is checked on your device and not sent anywhere.
• Counts of your own use — how many observations or exports you have made. These are numbers only, contain no job content, are used to show you nothing at all today, and never leave the browser.

Clearing your browser data, using private browsing, or switching browser or device removes this. Download a backup if the work matters. Nobody else can recover it for you, including us.

Spring road restriction lookup

When you look up a county, your browser requests restriction data directly from the public map servers that host WisDOT and MnDOT data, run by Esri (ArcGIS Online). Like any web request, those servers receive your IP address and the zone or county being looked up. No measurements or account details are sent. Your last state and county choice is remembered only in this browser. The lookup needs a connection and doesn’t work offline.

Offline calculators

Offline preparation stores public calculator pages, scripts, fonts and images in this browser. It does not save your current calculator inputs or cache private cloud account data. Sharing or downloading a result creates a separate copy you control. Browser cleanup can remove cached files.

What the website itself records

The site is static files. Loading a page produces an ordinary web server request, and the hosting provider keeps standard access logs — IP address, time, page requested, browser user-agent — for operating and securing the service. That is the provider's normal logging, not analytics built into this site.

The application adds no advertising, session recording or cross-site visitor identifiers. A Driftless page-view counter sends only a fixed page/tool category and interface language to our app, where daily totals are stored in a rolling 90-day window. Older totals are deleted on the next accepted event or operational summary read. For new visits, our hosting service supplies approximate country and state/province from the network connection, stored only in daily aggregate buckets. Missing locations stay unknown; older totals cannot be assigned a location retrospectively. VPNs, relays and mobile networks can make regions inaccurate. We do not request GPS permission or store cities, postal codes or coordinates in analytics. This counter stores no IP addresses, visitor IDs, full URLs, tracking cookies or calculation inputs. It honors browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Counts represent document loads, not unique people; reloads and some bots may count, while privacy tools or offline use may suppress counts. The aggregate reports are protected. Exclude your own visits using an optional yes/no browser preference. Where permitted, a first-party cookie shares that setting across Driftless’s main site, www and app for up to one year; browser storage supplies a same-origin fallback. It contains no visitor ID. Self visits are counted separately and excluded from growth totals. Apply the setting in each browser you use; it cannot reclassify earlier anonymous visits. Hosting infrastructure may use service cookies. In local Field, calculation inputs are not uploaded; calculations run in your browser. This does not describe forms in the signed-in cloud workspace.

Payments and access

Checkout is not open, and early access is free. The cloud workspace uses account and pilot access; an older local licence key does not activate it. If paid plans are introduced, prices and purchase terms will be published here before any change takes effect. See current plans and access.

Support uses your email to answer your request. It is not sold, rented, or used for unrelated marketing.

Custom service requests

The custom request portal at app.driftlesssolutions.us stores submitted contact details, task descriptions, examples, messages, proposals, approvals, payment confirmation references and delivered files privately for your account and Driftless. It does not share them with your company workspace or automatically send them to an AI service. Original files may retain metadata. Updates appear in the portal; automatic customer email notifications are not connected. Read the request storage, limits and deletion details.

If you email us

We keep the message and your address so we can reply and, if it is a bug, fix it. If you send us a job backup to help diagnose something, that file is used for that purpose and deleted afterwards. Do not send job data unless you have been asked for it and are comfortable sharing it.

The feedback note

The feedback box in the older local Field workspace does not submit anything. It downloads a text file containing only what you typed, which you can then choose to send. Nothing is transmitted automatically.

Children

This is a tool for working construction crews and is not directed at children.

Your rights

For local Field jobs stored on your device, you already have direct control of it: you can export it, restore it, or delete it without asking anyone. For anything held as a result of a purchase or an email — your address, the sale record — you can ask what is held, ask for a copy, or ask for deletion, subject to the records a business must keep for tax and accounting purposes.
